Three members of the Tri-City Valley Cats have been named to the New York Penn League All-Star game. Pitcher Austin Hansen, infielder Jeremy Pena and outfielder Alex McKenna will represent the Capital Region as All-Stars. The Valley Cats continue to be a classy and successful organization here in the 518. The 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Game will be hosted by the State College Spikes at Lubrano Park on Tuesday, August 14th.

Here is a quick write up on all three players from the Cats press release:

Hansen, 21, was drafted by the Astros in the 8th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In nine appearances for the ValleyCats, including eight out of the bullpen, Hansen has given up just two earned runs in 19 innings pitched, while collecting 26 strikeouts. He enters the break with a record of 1-1, a 0.95 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and batters are hitting just .134 off of him this year.
McKenna, 20, was drafted by the Astros in the 4th round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In 27 games for Tri-City, McKenna leads the team with a .316 batting average, .421 on-base percentage, .547 slugging percentage and .968 OPS. He has collected five home runs, including his first two in the same game on July 18. McKenna then would homer in three straight games between July 30 and August 1.
Pena, 20, was drafted by the Astros in the 3rd round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Maine. In 35 games for the ValleyCats, Pena has hit .254 with a .344 on-base percentage, to go along with 22 runs scored. Pena hit his first career home run at "The Joe" on August 4.
