Could the Capital Region see more local athletes achieving professional sports careers? In comparison to recent examples like Ian Anderson and Kevin Huerter, these athletes would not be a top five draft pick or Division 1 athlete. Instead William Bellamy and Ryan Ehrets are Union College football players at the Division 3 level. Both players recently appeared on the NFL Draft Diamonds website. Ehrets was featured on the site's 1000 top small school players list

His teammate, Bellamy, had a full interview discussing his career and more. To read NFL Draft Diamonds complete report on the Union Dutchmen quarterback, click on the link here

In 2019 Bellamy and Ehrets helped lead Union to a Liberty League conference championship and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament. Bellamy was named D3football.com All-East Region Second Team while Ehrets was named D3football.com All-East Region Third Team.

Despite my college fandom being on the side of Union football's rival, the Hobart Statesmen, I am rooting for both players to have the opportunity to compete at the professional level.

Union College's football did not take the field this season because of their conference's decision to cancel fall sports due to COVID-19.However we may see Bellamy take the field as an athlete at Union College again. Bellamy is also a member of the Dutchmen baseball team that is scheduled to take the field again this spring.

Most colleges and schools around the United States of America have gone to remote learning this fall. How does the new way of education look around the world? Check out the list below to find out.
