Upset-minded New Hampshire shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half, hit 10 threes for the game, and had a chance to win it at the buzzer on Sunday, but top-seeded Albany prevailed in the semifinals of the America East tournament.

The win moves the Danes to 23-8 and pushes the Purple and Yellow to the conference championship game on Saturday at 11 a.m. Albany will play Stony Brook for the right to go to the NCAA tournament.

Peter Hooley led the Danes with 21 points on 8-11 shooting, while Evan Singletary had 18. They were the only two Danes in double-figures; Sam Rowley was next with eight.

Singletary also had eight rebounds to lead UAlbany.

“There are a lot of good teams out there right now getting beat by teams they beat in the regular season,” said head coach Will Brown.  “I thought New Hampshire played great. They were well prepared, and it’s a shame they had to lose this game. This wasn’t a masterpiece, but we did what we needed to do: survive and advance.”
