After months of speculation that the Capital Region would possibly not see the Albany Cup in 2015-16, the two sides have come to terms to keep the game happening for the next three years.

Originally reported by the Albany Times Union, the deal stipulates that the game will be played at the Times Union Center in 2015, SEFCU Arena in 2016, and at the TUC again in 2017 as part of a tournament format.

The big sticking point for UAlbany was wanting to get the Albany Cup played at SEFCU Arena.

We brought in UAlbany men's basketball broadcaster Zach Bye to talk about the agreement. He feels that both programs needed each other on the schedule and is happy to see the deal done:

"I think they both needed it the same amount," he said. "I think they both needed it just as bad as the area needs it... Both of these schools are better off. Siena has a terrific schedule and so does Albany, but what game will Siena or Albany schedule inside the Capital Region that's going to draw 12,000 people?
