It's hard to believe that we are rapidly approaching the start of the 2015-16 academic year, and with that, comes the start again of college and high school athletics.

On the college front, UAlbany figures to be a major player again in the America East, but before we move ahead, we take one last look back.

UAlbany assumed the No. 4, No. 3 and No. 1 spots in the countdown:

No. 4 - The UA field hockey team advanced to the NCAA tournament by winning the A-East championship and then advanced to the first final four in school history. The Danes lost to UConn in the final four.

No. 3 - Lyle Thompson became the NCAA Division 1 lacrosse all-time leading scorer against Bryant. Thompson led the Danes to the NCAA quarterfinal for the second straight year. He also won the Tewaaraton Award for the second straight year.

No. 1 - Peter Hooley hits "the shot" that sent UAlbany back to the NCAA tournament for the third straight year. Hooley's journey this past season is well chronicled and helped put UAlbany on the national stage.
