The UAlbany men's basketball team started off the 2015-16 campaign with a 78-65 loss at Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Friday night.

The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 in some preseason polls and No. 2 in others. The Danes are looking for the programs fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament.

The Danes will be led heavily by the backcourt this season and that showed on Friday. Point guard Evan Singletary had 17 points while Peter Hooley turned in 18.

The Danes should be encouraged with the performance. They got zero points from Ray Sanders, who was an all-conference player a year ago. If you get nothing from an all-conference player and still only lose by 13 at Kentucky, that's pretty impressive.

UAlbany also got nine points from CBA product Greig Stire. Not usually an offensive threat, Stire provided the Danes with some points down low. That would be a big contribution if it continued throughout the season.

Scotia product Joe Cremo got his first collegiate action as well, scoring six points in 12 minutes.
