Amid the excitement that Dion Lewis made the Patriots and that Andrew Franks (RPI) had made the Miami Dolphins late last week, it could have been easily missed that another Capital Region product will suit up for an NFL team this Sunday.

Former UAlbany tight end Brian Parker will play for the Kansas City Chiefs when they battle against the Houston Texans in Houston.

Parker, who was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent, signed with the Chiefs on Sunday after being waived.

Apparently, the Chiefs have liked Parker for a while.

The following article from the Kansas City Star outlines that.

“Ever since the college draft came along, we’ve really liked him,” Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said. “We monitored him all during the preseason, he’s shown exactly what we thought he would be.

“He’s a really good run blocker, he’s got speed to go down the field, he’s got the hands to catch, but he can contribute on special teams and I see a good ceiling on him, as well.”

Parker got significant interest around the draft before landing in San Diego. He had one catch for 14 yards in the preseason.
