UAlbany Hires New Assistant Coaches
Albany University announced the hiring of a new assistant coach to sit along side head coach Will Brown, and added another member to the staff as well.
Jon Iati, a former player with UA comes back to the school to coach under Brown, leaving a similar perch with Quinnipiac university. Iati was QU director of basketball operation the last 3 years and spent 5 years total with the school. Iati had a solid career with Albany, currently standing at 19th all time in scoring. He was mostly a sharp shooter hitting over 35% of his down town attempts.
Also Brown announced that Simon Clement has been promoted within the operation, moving up to graduate assistant manager. He had served as volunteer graduate manager. that fancy title broken down means that Clement will have his hands in several areas including film breakdown, supervising student managers and on campus recruitment in addition to other tasks.
The Great Danes did make a post season tournament last year but have suffered a few key departures since in leading scorers Gerardo Suero and Logan Aronhalt.
