The UAlbany men's lacrosse team advanced to the America East final after beating Hartford on Thursday by a score of 15-6 at Bob Ford Field.

Lyle Thompson scored nine points in the win, giving him 100 or more for the third consecutive season. The reigning co-Tewaaraton Award winner had five points and four assists. No other player in Division I history has more than one 100-point season.

The Danes held a 7-4 lead at halftime before really clamping down on the defensive end in the second stanza.

“This is probably the hardest game to play as the 1-seed,” said UAlbany coach Scott Marr to UAlbanysports.com. “I thought we came out tight, but give credit to Hartford, they played outstanding.  Our defense played well, and we fought through it.”

The Danes will take on Stony Brook in a rematch of the 2014 championship, which the Danes won.

Stony Brook defeated Vermont in the other semifinal, 16-13.

The final will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bob Ford Field.
