When there isn't a playoff spot at stake, pride is generally what's most left to play for in the final game of the regular season. In any sport. That was the case on Saturday for UAlbany, but the Danes also had a chance to play spoiler. On Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day, UAlbany hosted #16 New Hampshire which was in the playoff hunt coming in.

UAlbany was mired in a 6 game losing streak, four of those losses by a combined 18 points and yet with a prideful senior class, the Great Danes put a serious dent in UNH's playoff hopes. The defense has been stout all season and it played perhaps its best game of 2017 in a shutout of the Wildcats at Casey Stadium.

This game wasn't about a coach trying to save his job or a team trying to extend its season. It was about erasing some of the disappointment of a year that started with a 3-1 record. It was about a senior class, which has helped lay the ground work for a program still somewhat new to best conference at the FCS level, going out on a high note.
