The game of the night in college basketball was not Duke vs. Kentucky although they met for the first time since 2001. No, the game of the night was the stunner of the night and maybe the season so far. UAlbany 63, Washington 62. Read it again, on the road the Danes take down the Huskies!

Albany showed early they would be a factor in this game, leading at the break 31-27. Several times in the second half Washington took the lead and seemed poised to take the game. However the Danes maintained their poise and Mike Black showed the heart.

Black's drive and scoop layup with 3.7 seconds left gave Albany the stunning victory.

UAlbany coming off of a 22 point loss at Ohio State on Sunday bounced back fast. After taking the half time lead the Will Brown's Great Danes fell behind by seven in the second half after the Huskies Jernard Jarreau's dunk with just over 13 minutes left gave Washington a 45-38 lead. Then Black went to work. A hoop and foul shot then a driving layup, followed by a John Puk basket gave the Danes the lead back 54-53. The teams went back and forth from there.

Sam Rowley gave the Danes a three point lead scoring with one second left on the shot clock. Washington's C.J. Wilcox hit a three to tie the game again at 58 with 1.39 left. After a turnover by UAlbany the Huskies converted two free throws to grab a 60-58 lead.

In spite of Black's heroics the biggest shot of the game belonged to UAlbany's Peter Hooley who hit a three to give the Danes the lead again setting up Black's winning drive and bucket.

UAlbany is now 2-1 on the young  season. Black led the club with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

Next up for Albany is a step down in competition when they take on the Kangaroos of UMKC on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
