UAlbany basketball coach Will Brown just secured the best recruit of his coaching career.

An 11-year-old named JP Honsinger.

The Clifton Park sixth grader is said to be a "five-star" point guard recruit whose battle with the rare disease known as Niemann-Pick Type C has become an inspiration to many across the Capital Region.  Of the budding star, Coach Brown gave his glowing praise:

At 11 years of age, JP is the youngest player we have ever signed.  He is a lightning quick point guard with big time range on his jump shot ... Nobody in the country will be signing a player with JP’s toughness.  We are very fortunate to be able to sign JP during the early signing period as we feel he is a recruiting coup for us.  His character and toughness will allow him to make an immediate impact in our program.

Honsinger won't be making his UAlbany debut this year, but we're sure he will make a huge impact when he does.
