Now this is the way to treat an outclassed opponent. Jump on them right away and don't give them a chance to hang around.

This is the formula UAlbany used in taking apart UMBC (University of Maryland-Baltimore County) 79-56.

A 20-5 run to start the ballgame, a 36-19 lead at the half and a 25-10 run to begin the second half all add up to a blowout road win.

Jacob Iati led the Great Danes with 14 points. Coach Will Brown utilized virtually his entire bench and UAlbany cruised to the win, a big victory in their chase for the America  East regular season crown. The big run to start the second half gave UAlbany a 61-29 lead.

Peter Hooley contributed 10 points and 8 boards. DJ Evans came off the bench and scored 12 points while dishing four assists. The Danes shot 54% from the floor.

The victory moved UAlbany within one and a half games of second place Vermont in the America East and they trail front runner Stony Brook by two games, three in the loss column. The two game roadie ends Saturday at Maine against the Black Bears.
