The UAlbany women's basketball team saw its season end on Sunday afternoon, losing 76-61 to West Virginia in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The 15th-seeded Great Danes won the America East for the second season in a row. The Purple and Gold finish the season at 28-5 while the Mountaineers extend their season at 30-4.

Megan Craig led UA with 23 points and six rebounds while Sarah Royals had 14 points.

America East Player of the Year Shereesha Richards finished with nine points and six rebounds before fouling out with just over four minutes to play.

UAlbany overcame a 33-11 deficit in the first half and brought it within five at 56-51 with 6:58 to play.

The Great Danes outshot the higher seed, 46 percent to 43, but the biggest disparity came at the foul line. The Mountaineers converted on 25-34 (74%), while UA was just 14-29 (48%).
