Unbeaten Watervliet beat Tamarac, 62-53, to win the Section II Class B girls basketball championship Tuesday night at Stillwater High School.

Ailayia Demand led the Cannoneers with 22 points while Mikayla DeGuire added 21 points.

For Tamarac, Briana Matazinsky popped in 15 points and Adiya Henderson contributed 12 points.

Watervliet had quarter leads of 17-9, 34-27, and 49-42 en route to raising its record to 22-0. The Cannoneers will play Saranac (Section VII) on Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College at 11 a.m. in regional action.

Hoosic Valley (22-1) made easy work of Moriah (Section VII), 71-20, in the Class C regional semifinals. Whitney Kugler scored 14 points while Cassidy Chapko and Alexandra Gurney each added 11.

The next step for Hoosic Valley is a meeting with Tupper Lake (Section X) Saturday noon at SUNY Canton.

Argyle had success in the Class D regional semifinals beating Hammond (Section X), 77-65. Jacquelyn Miller unleashed 31 points, Shelby Graham had 18 and Hannah Kennedy 11.

The Scots (20-3) will now play Indian Lake/Long Lake in a regional final on Saturday at Plattsburgh State at noon.

Unfortunately, the Argyle boys saw its season come to an end losing to Madrid-Waddington, 62-59. Joey Lufkin had a big night for Argyle with 35 points. He was the only Scots player to reach double figures.
