Well, one Capital Region college baseball team was bound to head to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday as Union and RPI squared off for the Liberty League Championship.

The Dutchmen came out on top, getting an 8-6 win over the Engineers to earn the league's automatic bid to the Division III Tournament.

The tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Jake Fishman, went 3-3 for Union and helped jumpstart an early 1-0 lead in the first inning by scoring on a sacrifice fly.

Union jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning but RPI clawed back to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh after a single and a double with two outs.

But the Dutchmen would answer right back with four in the bottom of the frame to help cement the victory.

With the win, the Dutchmen earn the No. 5 seed in the New York Regional. They'll play Ramapo in the first game. Cortland is also in the regional. They won the national championship a season ago.
