For the first time ever, both teams in the Capital Region make the NCAA Tournament as Union College & RPI will be part of college hockey's "Big Dance."

Union earned the #2 seed in the East Region.  The Dutchmen will play #3 Minnesota-Duluth on Friday March 23 at 3:00pm in Bridgeport, Connecticut.   Nate Leaman's club will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

RPI is the #4 seed in the Midwest Region.  The Engineers will take on North Dakota this Saturday at 1:30pm from the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI.  It's RPI's first trip to the NCAA's since 1995.

Union, the ECAC Regular Season Champions, lost in the ECAC Tournament quarterfinals to Colgate but were assured of an NCAA Tourney birth based on their #9 national ranking.

It wasn't as easy for RPI.  Seth Appert's club finished 5th in the ECAC regular season but lost in the 1st Round of the conference tournament - also against Colgate.

Two weeks ago, it seemed like the Engineers hopes of a bid to the tourney were all but finished.  But due to the fact there were no major upsets in other conference tournaments, RPI got an invitation to the NCAA's.
