What a match between the United States and Brazil in the World Cup today.  It came down to a shoot out and the USA was able to come away with the victory.

It wasn't an easy win for the US women today in Germany.  There was a reason why they had hoped to avoid Brazil, they were tough.  Not to mention they had Marta, the 5 time FIFA world player of the year.  But the USA pushed through and thanks to a clutch goal by Abby Wambach.

Wambach's goal in the 122nd minute of play sent the game into a shoot out where US Goalie Hope Solo was able to keep the dangerous kickers of Brazil at bay.  Ali Krieger, who played her professional career in Germany took the pnealty kick that mattered the most.  She sunk the USA's 5th kick and it send the US women into the semi finals of the World cup.  The final score was 2-2 with penalty kicks 5-3.
