Tri-City ValleyCats outfielder Dexture McCall was named the Most Valuable Player of the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday night, going 1-3 with a two-RBI double and a walk.

His double fueled a three-run first inning for the North, which won the game, 4-2.

McCall was one of four ValleyCats to make the team. Bobby Wernes went 0-3 with an RBI and Pat Porter went 0-1.

Pitcher Alex Winkelman did not throw, but he was only on two days rest.

McCall is hitting .266 for the season for the first place ValleyCats. They lead the Stedler Division by 0.5 games over the Lowell Spinners.

We spoke to McCall this morning about the all-star experience, the biggest adjustment to professional baseball, his thoughts on Joe Bruno Stadium, and which promotion he prefers at 'Cats games: The Mayor's Race or the Hot Dog Race?

McCall was taken in the 31st round of the 2014 draft out of Hillsborough Community College in Florida.
