Manager Stubby Clapp will be returning for a second season after leading the team to 33-42 record last season. Rejoining Clapp will be batting coach Mark Bailey who is also returning for his second season with the club.  Rick Aponte will serve as the new pitching coach for the ’Cats as Gary Ruby has been promoted to the Astros Double A affiliate in Corpus Christi. Ruby had been the pitching coach for the ValleyCats for three seasons.

Another new member of the ValleyCats field staff will be athletic trainer Michael Rendon. This will be Rendon’s first season with the ‘Cats and second in the Astros system after serving in the same role for Rookie League Greeneville in 2011.

For those of you who might remember, Stubby Clapp made all the local news stations and even ESPN's Sportscenter for a tirade he had on a bad call last season. A game I was lucky enough to be at. If you have never seen the footage, check it out!
