On Thursday, the Tri-City ValleyCats announced its coaching staff for the 2016 season, and it will look a lot different than the past few seasons:

Others in the local media confirmed, including Times Union ValleyCats writer Jess Koehler, who added this:

Steinhorn is the only returner from a staff that guided the 'Cats to the playoffs again in 2015. Under Romero and Steinhorn, the 'Cats advanced to two consecutive New York-Penn League championship series', winning in 2013.

Holt was part of the staff for the past two years.

It seems odd that the Astros would part ways with Romero, but that was the case, as confirmed by the Houston Chronicle. The Astros made several moves at the minor league level.

"Multiple people familiar with the personnel moves said the Astros also parted with Tri-City manager Ed Romero, High Class A Lancaster pitching coach Don Alexander, pitching advisor Gary Ruby, development specialist Tim Garland, and a pair of Gulf Coast League coaches: hitting coach Vinny Lopez and pitching coach Hector Mercado."
