Victor Cruz Won’t Hold Out For New Contract
Victor Cruz has quickly become a favorite amongst Giant fans, but he is in his last year of being and undrafted free agent. Cruz says all he wants to do is play, and won’t be holding out.
These days it’s very common for a player in their final year of a contract to hold out heading into training camp, as they look for an extension and more money. Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has expressed that he would like a bump in pay after a fantastic season last year, but says he won’t be holding out for a new contract.
I just want to go in there and play football. When I was young, it wasn’t about the money, it wasn’t about the fame and fortune, it was about playing football. Regardless of how short term this career can be, I just want to go out there and play and all that stuff will take care of itself.
Cruz had a big year for the Giants, and was a big part of their Super Bowl run and victory. Last season he stepped in when other Giants went down with injuries, and caught 82 passes for 1,536 yards, and 9 TDs in the regular season. In the Super Bowl he caught 4 passes for a 25 yards and a touchdown.
