Joe O’ Connor hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Wednesday to give Kean a 5-4 win over Union College in the first round of the Division III NCAA Baseball tournament.

The game, played in Newark, N.Y., ended at 11:12 p.m.

Trailing 4-2 in the top of the seventh, Union rallied to tie the game after a two-RBI double by sophomore Eric Egan (Shaker).

Union took a 1-0 lead in the second when Logan Schulte singled to center but Kean put up three unanswered.

The teams traded runs until the Egan double and the O’Connor game-winner.

Union is now 26-11-1 overall. They’ll need a win to survive in the tournament, and will play today at 1:15 against Stevens.
