What to do for an encore? If you haven't noticed, Dev Holmes is a freshman phenom and bonafide stud wide receiver for UAlbany. The Troy high grad put up a monster game last week in his first collegiate game in the Capital Region; 238 receiving yards and an 88-yard score that gave the Great Danes a lead they would not give back. It was the first win of the season for UAlbany.

Where would this team be with Holmes? Think about it. The speedy slot receiver flipped his commitment from one CAA to another. Holmes was all set to go to Villanova until one of his best friends and teammates at Troy, Joe Casale, made UAlbany his choice. From there, the full court press was on to get his buddy to stay in the 518. If Holmes isn't on this UAlbany team, forget 2-2, is it 0-4?

With a bye week around the corner, UAlbany hosted Saint Francis (Pa.). Not a gimme, but certainly a must-win as the target to be a playoff team sits at eight wins. With the game tied at 28 in the fourth quarter, Holmes came through again. Vincent Testaverde hit Holmes for one of the wideout's two touchdowns on the night and twenty-four of the 128 yards from senior to freshman through the air. Another week, another game-winner for Holmes as the Great Danes beat the Red Flash 35-28.
