Sunday was more than Mother's Day for Yankees fans. I am in no way implying Derek Jeter Day is more important than Mother's Day but if you were at Yankee Stadium or watching YES Network you might have to at least ask which one is bigger. Derek Jeter is the closest anyone my age and younger has to the greats who's numbers adorn the walls of Monument Park.

Names like Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio,  Lou Gehrig and Mickey Mantle seem like myths of a time when baseball was pure magic and your heroes could do anything. Well for 20 years Derek Jeter let this generation in on the magic. Captain Clutch Mr November or whatever you call the greatness of Derek Jeter, it felt good to give him the heroes send off he deserved.
