The University of Albany Great Danes Men's Lacrosse team is coming off of their best year in school history after advancing to NCAA Lacrosse Championship Weekend for the first time ever. Last year when the preseason rankings were unveiled Head Coach Scott Marr and his team were ranked 15th in the Nation. So where do the Great Danes rank just one year after losing the likes of Conor Fields, TD Ierland and more? How about 17th on the top 20?

A press release from UAlbany shares the poll info as well as top opponents the Great Danes will face this season:

The University at Albany men’s lacrosse team has been ranked No. 17 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Preseason Top 20 poll, which was released Wednesday, Jan. 2, on the US Lacrosse Magazine website.

Three other teams appearing in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll will visit Tom & Mary Casey Stadium this season: No. 1 Yale (April 19), No. 3 Maryland (March 9) and No. 16 UMass (March 5).

The Great Danes also open the season at No. 10 Syracuse on Feb. 16 and face No. 4 Cornell on the road March 2.

Last year the Great Danes started at 15 and made Championship weekend. Hopefully this is the year the Great Danes win it all.
