Why The New England Patriots Won’t Win Super Bowl 52

For a fifth time in his career, New England Patriots quaterback Tom Brady hoisted the Super Bowl trophy in victory. After an historic win, Brady was named the cover athlete for the 2018 Madden NFL video game.

Although the curse of appearing on the Madden cover has been discussed before , it seems to be another curse that may be dooming a Patriots run to the Super Bowl this season. This week's Sports Illustrated (which will be released Thursday), predicts Brady and his New England Patriots team to win Super Bowl 52. In the five times Sports Illustrated has predicted New England to win the Super Bowl, the Patriots have only won it once and in three of those instances, the team failed to even reach the Super Bowl. Since 1990, Sports Illustrated has correctly predicted just three Super Bowl winners from its preview issues: the 1993 and 1995 Dallas Cowboys, and those 2004 Patriots.
