It was 15 years ago when Tiger Woods won the US Open by a historic 15 stroke margin. Now, the 14 time major champion has missed the cut after shooting a 76.

Why has Tiger struggled so much? CBS Sports’ Kyle Porter joined Armen and Levack on Friday:

“He understands that with the swings changes he is undergoing with his new swing coach Chris Como, he talked earlier this week about it will be short term suffering for long term gain. So I think that he just understands, this is how it’s going to be right now, and he really believes he will come out the other side after these swing changes. But even if he does, his putting is equally as bad. So I don’t know what he’s going to do about that, once he figures out the swing changes if that ever gets solved.”

The struggles of Tiger Woods finding his groove again with his golf game continue. After the first day of the U.S. Open in Chambers Bay, Tiger sat at the bottom of the leader board shooting a third lowest day round and fourth lowest of his career, 80. Tiger’s round was so bad that he actually started to laugh following the round.

“He got done on the 18th green. He and Rickie Fowler were kind of laughing afterwards. I was asking, ‘Who is this guy?’ ‘What is going on here?’ And they were laughing because the two combined with other partner Louis Oosthuizen to shoot 28 over par, so I think they were laughing because they were glad to get the round over. But it’s not good, the way he played 18, topping the three-wood and having to get out of the bunker, it kind of epitomized how the round went for him.”

The thought of Tiger ever catching Jack Nickolas’ record of 19 major titles has been on the back burner for a while. For now it looks like that thought can be stored away for good. The third round will continue on Saturday while the final round will conclude on June 21st.
