"The beers at Yankee Stadium are so out of control."  "Who can afford that?"  That is often one of my favorite questions.  And it is truly a laughable one.

Do you think Yankee Stadium is too expensive?  Do you think sports games and tickets and everything else are too expensive?  Do you think that it is almost impossible to take a family of four to a sporting event or multiple sporting events?  I am with you.  But look at the beer prices at Yankee Stadium and hear me out.

It actually isn't that bad.  My prime example is my favorite beer, on tap in the Bronx, the Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.  It costs $12 per beer.  But here is the catch.  That $12 is actually spent on a 24 ounce brew, so essentially you are getting two beers because one beer is 12 ounces.

So let's say you go to a bar with buddies or a group or your girlfriend.  The average beer is around five bucks.  Five bucks times two is $10, plus you have to leave about a dollar tip per drink.  Your total?  $12.  Same as Yankee Stadium where you don't have to leave a tip.  And the beer you are buying isn't on draft, where beer in my opinion is better at least 75% of the time.  Plus, you aren't at a sporting event or unique event like a baseball game.  You are at a bar, somewhere you can go any night of the week for a brew with pals.

My point isn't to erase the fact that doing things in 2013 is expensive from an entertainment standpoint.  My point is simply that the beers aren't that poorly priced at Yankee Stadium if you dig deep enough.

And I dug, because as many know, I love my Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.  Plus, I thought it was important for you Yankee fans and sports fans to know that the $12 you spent didn't go to waste as much as you thought.

Be sure to grab beer locally this weekend at the Saratoga Brewfest.  VIP and general admission tickets are available here:  http://wgna.com/events-albany/saratoga-brewfest/15-june-2013-saratoga-county-fairgrounds/.
