Derek Jeter said this week that he doesn’t miss baseball and his absence at spring training and opening day suggest that he doesn’t miss the Yankees. On 104.5 The Team, Buster Olney, backed up that assessment.

"I don’t think his relationship with the Yankees was warm and fuzzy," said Buster, with Armen and Levack on Thursday. "We know this because he didn’t show up to spring training. He’s not going to Yankee stadium."I talked to a mutual friend of his the other day. He said that unless there’s an event where they’re retiring Posada’s number, he doesn’t think Derek’s going to go."

Jeter has since confirmed that he would be at Yankee Stadium this year when some of his former teammates have their numbers retired. Still, Olney suggested that there's more to it.

"I want to make it clear that what I’m going to say it total speculation. The negotiations that he had with the Yankees the last couple of times around were not easy."The stuff that went on in recent years was not warm and fuzzy, it was very professional. It was feels like it’s an antiseptic relationship right now."

Buster Olney joins Armen and Levack every Thursday at 5:15p ET, thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings.
