The New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed on a deal to send pitcher A.J. Burnett to Pittsburgh.  The two teams are now awaiting approval from the commisioner's office.

Burnett's 3 season's as a Yankee have been very dissapointing. He had a record of 34-35 with a 4.79 ERA. The Pirates agreed they would pay $13 million of the $33 million salary due to Burnett for 2012 and 2013, that is the reason for Bud Selig's approval.

In the deal, the Yankees will receieve Minor Leaguers. Right handed pitcher Diego Moreno and  outfielder Exicardo Cayones.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, The Yankees will use the money saved in this deal to go after a Designated Hitter. Raul Ibanez is first on the Yankees list. Former Yankees Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui are also on the Yankees Radar.
