Last night the Yankees got a glimpse of what they hadn't seen since below Masahiro Tanaka's elbow injury half way through his first season, ace stuff. Tanaka was on his game, 8 innings pitched, giving up 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 14. It was exactly the kind of performance the Yankees and their fans have been hoping to see. Meanwhile Brett Gardner, Clint Frazier and Aaron Judge all provided Home Runs in Tanaka's support.

The win was not only fun to watch for fans between the Ace level pitching and power at the plate but it put the Yankees back in first place of the American League East for the first time since June 21st. IT would appear the slump is over and the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays will be battling it out all the way to late September/ early October.
