Yankees Beat Royals 3-2

The Yankees would end their 3 game skid on Tuesday night by beating the Kansas City Royals 3-2.

The Royals would take the lead first with a RBI double by Humberto Quintero in the top of the 3rd. Jeff Francoeur would add another run in the top of the 4th with a Home Run. The Yankees would get one run back in the bottom of the 4th thanks to a blast from Robinson Cano. The Bottom of the 5th saw the Yankees take the lead thanks to an RBI single from Derek Jeter and a ground out by Curtis Granderson that scored Russell Martin. That would be all the Yankees would need.

Both starting pitchers had very good outings. Phil Hughes went 6 innings giving up 5  hits and 2 earned runs. He struck out 7 and only walked 2. Royals starter Luke Hochevar went 6 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. He stuck out 8 and walked 3. Both Bullpens did well pitching scoreless innings. Rafael Soriano closed out the game giving up a one out double to Alex Gordon but retired the next two to get the save for the Yankees. The last out was a very close play as Alex Rodriguez made a great throw from third to get Alcides Escobar by a step.

The Yankees will wrap up the series with the Royals Wednesday night as Andy Pettitte will make his 3rd appearance of the year taking on Luis Mendoza for the Royals. Hear all the action on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio with the pregame at 6:30, first pitch at 7:05.
