Good news for the Yankees and new closer Aroldis Chapman:

Again, this is good news for both sides. Chapman had filed for a $13.1 million number while the Yankees had countered at $9 million.

If the two sides hadn't settled before Feb. 19, they would have gone to court and their relationship would have started with the Yankees giving all the reasons why their star acquisition doesn't deserve the money he feel he deserves.

Settling prior to that happening is a win for both sides, but especially the Yankees, who don't have to rip Chapman in court in order to save a few million dollars.

Chapman is one of the elite-level closers in baseball. The 27-year-old has 146 career saves to go along with a career 2.17 season. He has 546 strikeouts in 319 career innings.

On the baseball field, Chapman is a home run move. But his legal issues surrounding his alleged domestic violence case make him a murky acquisition.

But regardless, it's a good move that the two sides settled now before needing court.
