It has become a trend for me to report on bad news regarding the Yankees' lack of action in the free agent market this offseason. Well, allow me to add fuel to the fire once again.

ESPNdeportes.com has been reporting all day that Adrian Beltre is close to signing a deal with the Texas Rangers, a move which would add to an already stacked line-up in Arlington with guys like Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus. Several sources have told the ESPN affiliate that the deal is 5-6 years, ranging around the $90-96 million mark.

The 31-year-old Beltre had a tremendous year with the Boston Red Sox in 2010, batting .321 with 28 home runs, 49 doubles and 102 RBI's. Beltre was named an All-Star for the first time in his career, and also received his 2nd Silver Slugger Award.
