Brett Gardner and Alex Rodriguez were two players that could have been New York Yankees candidates to be voted in to start for the 2015 All-Star game, but it did not work out that way.

On Sunday evening, Major League Baseball announced the American League All-Star roster and it did not include a member of the Pinstripes.

Two of the outfielders that got votes over Gardner included Royals Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain. Kansas City had a total of four players voted onto the roster.

Here's the American League starting roster for the All-Star game:

2B: Jose Altuve, Houston Astros
3B: Josh Donaldson, Toronto Blue Jays
