After another dreadful outing on Saturday, it was no real surprise that Freddy Garcia's time in the Yankees rotation was coming to an end. Sunday it was made official, he is heading to the bullpen.

In four starts with the Yankees, Garcia is 0-2 with a 12.51 ERA. He didn't get out of the 2nd inning in his last 2 starts.  Andy Pettitte is expected to eventually take over Garcia's spot in the rotation, but until Pettitte is ready it looks like David Phelps is a possible fill in. Garcia will be used as a long reliever as he tries to work his troubles out.  To help the bullpen, the Yankees have  called up right-hander D.J. Mitchell from Triple-A.

Last season was a surprising season for Garcia, who went 12-8 as a starter with a decent 3.52 ERA. It earned him a one year contract worth $4 Million.
