Andrew Marchand from ESPNNewYork.com is reporting that Yankees GM Brian Cashman's new contract could be finalized as soon as next week. A source with inside information about the negotiations has told Marchand that everything is still going smoothly between Cashman and the organization.

The New York Post tweeted that Cashman will meet with Hal Steinbrenner next week. It is expected that Cashman's visit with Steinbrenner will be the final hurdle for his new deal to become official. Cashman's current contract reportedly pays him a little more than $2 million per season.

Cashman has already started preparing as if he is remaining with the franchise. His first order of business will be figuring what to offer CC Sabathia to persuade the big lefty not to opt-out of the final four years of his current seven-year contract for $161 million.
