After just missing the playoffs in 2015, the Yankees are in need of a number of things heading into the 2016 season.

The Yanks addressed one need on Wednesday when they acquired the young, speedy Aaron Hicks from the Minnesota Twins.

Reports have it that the Yankees are also looking to bolster their rotation and they may be very interested in free agent LHP Wei-Yen Chen.

Chen has spent the last four years with the Orioles, going 46-32 in his career. He's 30 years old and is reportedly looking for a five or six year deal.

The New York Daily News article also says that Chen is an attractive option because he's already pitched well in the American League East. He has familiarity with the entire AL as well.

“You have to make it part of your evaluation about how you think they’re going to translate from that league to our league,” Cashman said of NL pitchers. “There’s such a scarcity of quality pitching, in many cases you’re still forced to take that leap of faith regardless.”

The Orioles gave Chen a qualifying offer so the Yankees would forfeit their first-round pick (No. 22) if they signed him.
