The New York Yankees have proven that they can hit the ball this year.  Another big win for them as they beat the Milwaukee Brewers 12-2 last night.  Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira each homers and hit for 4 RBI's to combine for 8 of those Yankee runs.

Milwaukee's Zach Greinke would exit after just 2 innings after giving up 7 of those runs including the Swisher homer. His ERA rises to 5.63.  On the other side, Freddy Garcia goes 6 innings and allows 2 runs on 8 hits.  That would be good enough as the Yankees would add four more runs in the 6th inning and one in the 8th.

This win also puts the Yankees 1.5 games up on the Boston red Sox for first place in the AL East.  Boston had no answer for Cliff Lee last night, the Phillies would beat the Sox 5-0.  Lee would toss another complete game and allow just 2 hits from that powerful Boston lineup.  The Yankees may be able to put some more space in between them and Boston in this last week of inter-league play as the Yankees have dominated the national league.

The Yankees and Brewers will play again tonight at 7p, AJ Burnett faces off against Shaun Marcum.
