Whenever the Yankees have lost the first game a series this season, they have always come back guns a blazing.  Last night was no exception.  The bombers lived up to their name and slammed Indians pitching for 17 hits.

Curtis Granderson continues to roll.  he goes 3-6 last night including 2 home runs.  That gives him 25 total, just 3 behind league leader Jose Bautista of Toronto.  He is also now tied with teammate Mark Teixeira.  Derek Jeter was also hitting in his second game back from the DL.  He was 2-6 last night with a couple of RBI's.  Those 2 hits move him within 4 hits of that all important 3,000 mark.  They weren't the only Yankees hitting either.  All of the starting rotation had 2 or more hits last night with the exception of Franciso Cervelli, who continues to struggle at the plate this year.

CC Sabathia continues to be one of the most, if not the most, dominating pitcher in baseball.  He goes 7 strong innings for the Yanks.  Sabathia only allows 5 hits and strikes out 11.  he is the first pitcher to reach 12 wins, and it's the second year in a  row that he has reached the 12 mark before the all-star break.

The Yanks will try and win the series tonight in the rubber match of the three game set against Cleveland 7pm.  Phil Hughes on the mound for the Yankees, Cleveland will start Justin Masterson.
