The 3-0 loss is a bitter end to a season that had plenty of ups-and-downs from Alex Rodriguez's return to Masahiro Tanaka's injury and several other stories in between.

Tanaka got the ball for the Yanks and surrendered two runs in five innings before turning it over to the bullpen.

The Astros scored in the second inning when Colby Rasmus hit a solo home run to right field. The 'Stros got another run in the fourth when Carlos Gomez led off the inning with another homer to make it 2-0.

Houston cemented the lead in the seventh when Jose Altuve singled in a run.

The Yankees best chance to score came in the 6th when Alex Rodriguez flew out to center with two on and two out in the sixth.

Dallas Keuchel got the start for the Astros, throwing six shutout innings.
