The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners 10-3 late Monday night. The Yankees took advantage of some errors and made their hits count. Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter each had a home run to hand the Yankees their initial lead. Then the rest of the hitting kicked in as the Yankees put up 6 runs in the 4th inning to put the game away.

Find out the addition the Yankees will receive on Tuesday.

Freddy Garcia pitched very well in this game going 7 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits, 3 runs, walking 1 and striking out 5. Teixeira hit his 27th home run driving in 3 runs in the game. Teixeira has hit 99 home runs as a member of the Yankees. Brett Gardner added two more hits scoring 2 runs and driving in one.

Yankees will see a new third basemen come Tuesday night as Eric Chavez is scheduled to come back from the disabled list after having back pain and kidney stones. Before he got hurt, Chavez had been swinging the bat quite well and providing great defense. He certainly will provide good depth for the Yanks at the hot corner.

Yankees also expect Rafael Soriano back sometime this week as well. He had been pitching in AAA making back to back appearances to show the Yankees that he can indeed come back and be effective and strong.
