The New York Mets were just three wins away from a World Series title in 2015. In an effort to get back there in 2016, the Blue and Orange set their sights on Ben Zobrist at the Winter Meetings.

Zobrist was a perfect fit for the Mets, as he could play multiple positions and offensively could help offset the probable losses of Yoenis Cespedes and Daniel Murphy.

However, Zobrist will not be a Met...

Zobrist to the Cubs also makes perfect sense. He's from Illinois so he gets to stay in the Midwest. He played for Cubs manager Joe Maddon in Tampa Bay and has a familiarity there. Also, Zobrist has a chance to play on a team full of up and coming offensive players (Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Jorge Soler). He can play second base primarily as well.

The Zobrist move caused the Cubs to trade Starlin Castro to the Yankees.
