Music and sports go hand and hand. You always see athletes wearing their headphones, listening to their favorite music to get psyched up for their games. How about musicians? Do they get pumped up when they are watching sports? Well, the guys on The Drive know that one guy does.

It is a long time coming for Yankee fans. Finally "The Captain" Derek Jeter will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown today. For me, Derek Jeter will always be the best Yankee that ever played the game. I was fortunate six years ago to meet Derek Jeter and ask him a couple of questions. I even made "The Captain" laugh.

Garth Brooks is excited and you can hear it in his voice, or at least we thought so when he surprisingly called into the WGNA morning show on Friday morning.    When he makes his way to the northeast and performs live at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, October 9th it will be his first show in the Boston-area for the first time in 6 years. It's impossible to list all my favorite interviews I've done over the last seven years here but as I sit here preparing to do my last few full-time shows there are a few that come to mind. There's obviously every time Buster Olney has been on the show but I actually consider him part of the show and more than just a guest. Obviously, the Super Bowl trips are the base for a lot of the ones I'm most proud of. Let me know if any interviews I've been lucky enough to do are your favorites, please. The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox haven't even played each other yet and the Yanks have already played 42 games. With the Red Sox currently on top of the American League East is one of the bigger surprises of this young season the 19 games between them and the Yankees loom large in deciding the outcome of the division. ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney cautions fans of the two teams to not get tunnel vision because there's no shortage of competition in the AL East.

In ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney's weekly call with Levack and Bahl he made it very clear that New York Yankees' Gary Sanchez is not only catching on thin ice, but that ice may also have already broken. Buster also shared his thoughts on if the Yankees have turned the corner, Is Fransisco Lindor in real trouble with the Mets, and were the Angels wrong to DFA Albert Pujols.

The Albany Empire have hired the man that will replace Rob Keefe as head coach, Thomas Menas will be the man looking to lead the Empire to another championship. Menas, leaves the New Jersey Flight where he was the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach and will now face his former team with the Empire.

The days of saying "the Albany NLL team" are rapidly coming to an end. Tomorrow at the Times Union Center we find out the official name of the Lacrosse team that will call the arena on South Pearl Street home. Today I introduce you to another member of that team, Colton Watkinson.

I realize no one is happy the world of sports was forced to shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic but when you see what Reilly O'Connor was doing on the field pre pandemic it makes sense he's READY to get back to work. O'Connor's offensive game was never in question but after 27 goals in 18 games during the 2018-2019, then 19 goals in the 11 games before the 2019-2020 season was halted. The man is ready to get back to work.

The New York Islanders lost star Anders Lee to a torn ACL. Normally losing a player of Lee's talent would sink a team but Newsday's Neil Best says the Islanders are built to withstand such a loss and will continue to compete in the East.

The non-fungible token craze may have gone too far OR finally found a way for me to cash in. A man in New York City has decided to sell his farts. After collecting a year's worth of audio clips of himself and friends farting during quarantine, Alex Ramírez-Mallis is ready to cash in. He's selling NFT versions of his farts for as much as $85. I don't know about you but after all the corned beef, cabbage and Guinness I ingested on St Paddy's Day I think I'm about to be a millionaire if this business model passes the smell test.

The long-awaited opportunity to enjoy mobile sports betting here in New York may finally be here, or at least close. Governor Andrew Cuomo recently said that he was on board with legal betting as an opportunity to make some money and decrease the state's massive debt. How close are we really? Gaming Law and Sports Betting Attorney Daniel Wallach thinks mobile betting could be here as soon as September if one last hurdle is cleared.
