CBA, Troy To Meet For Class AA Boys Hoop Title

How about CBA of Albany and Troy meeting for the third time this season.  CBA outlasted Bishop Maginn, 57-49, in a Section II Class AA Boys Basketball Tournament semifinal game Thursday night.

Joe Krong popped in 19 points to lead the 19-2 Brothers. Aljamar Mathis and J.R. Briceus led Maginn with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

The other semifinal saw Troy get the best of Shaker, 54-40. Jerrell Reid and Dyaire Holt each delivered 14 points for 19-2 Troy while Trahmier Burrell contributed 12. Shaker featured Casey Hall with 13 points.

In girls action, Albany defeated Shenendehowa, 52-46. The loss ended an illustrious career of Shen coach Ken Strube who announced his retirement earlier this season after 589 wins.

Breahanda Stratton paced Albany with 22 points while Emia Willingham-Hurst added 17. Emily Weber unleashed 25 points for Shen while Mary Kate Cusack added 11.

Colonie turned away Shaker, 54-39, in the other Class AA semifinal.

If you like basketball, then get ready for the weekend with games scheduled at Glens Falls Civic Center and Hudson Valley Community College.
