Only certain moms are allowed to celebrate on Sunday, so they created a second Mother’s Day to cover all the bases.

How many times have you read a post about a dog mom giving herself creds for being a…well, a good dog mom?

Well, that’s perfectly ok…so long as it’s not on Sunday.

It turns out, dog moms are supposed to be celebrating motherhood to their fur babies on the day before Mother’s Day, which is on Saturday. It is known across the country as “National Dog Mom’s Day,” and it was created by Dig, which is “The Dog Person’s Dating App” back in 2018.

To celebrate being a dog mom, many of these moms will take their dog out to a dog park, a dog-friendly patio bar, or do something to spend the day with her furbaby.

And oftentimes, this is an opportunity for the dog dad to get a gift for the dog mom on behalf of their dog child.

It may seem odd to some, but that’s exactly why the days have been split into two.

Mother’s Day, on Sunday, is for fellow humans to celebrate. It officially became a holiday in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation to make it a yearly celebration to be held on the second Sunday of May.

Many people will get their mother flowers on Sunday, typically white carnations, to celebrate the day.

The carnation custom turned into the wearing of a red or pink carnation for a living mother, and a white carnation for a deceased mother. Mother’s Day often honors not only your mom, but also all women who played the role of a mother, such as grandma, great-grandma, adoptive moms, stepmoms, and more.

If you’re a dog mom, don’t be afraid to own it! And THANK YOU to all the moms for everything you do.
