I was hoping we might do better in 2025 when it comes to food recalls, but alas, I see we are not. Last year, there seemed to be an abundance of food recalls, which made me question how safe our food is. If I had the time and land I would try to grow my own, but that's not realistic for many, including me, in today's fast paced society. That means we rely on safety standards and practices to help keep ourselves and our families safe.

I am a frequent Aldi shopper and believe they have high-quality products for low prices. You can find organic, vegan, and gluten-free items at a fraction of what they cost in health food stores. Plus, they offer all of the staple products the average family in New York uses weekly. And I love to explore the Aldi "finds" aisles where they sell specialty items.

As much as I love Aldi, it has had its share of recalls. Currently, there is a recall of a frozen product that could cause damage to your teeth, including chipping or cracking them.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, Bestway Sandwiches Inc., headquartered in Valencia, California, is recalling approximately 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products. The items, sold at Aldi stores in New York, may be contaminated with metal.

The taquitos were produced on July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024. The product at the center of the recall is the 20-ounce carton labeled 'Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos." They have best-by dates of 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 and the establishment number 'EST. P-40327'. They were shipped to Aldi stores in New York and nationwide.
