Another popular chain restaurant has closed its doors. This time it's a beloved pizza chain.

If you’ve driven through Mohawk Commons lately, you may have noticed a change. Blaze Pizza on Balltown Road has officially closed. A sign on the door lets customers know the ovens have gone cold for good at the Schenectady location.

The closure marks the end of a ten-year run. Blaze Pizza first came to the Capital Region in 2015, opening its doors in Mohawk Commons as the very first location in the area. For a while, it was a popular spot to grab a fast, fresh, build-your-own pizza.

But times change, and the notice on the door explained that the business had to make the tough decision to shut down this location. While the Mohawk Commons restaurant is gone, fans of the chain still have options. Blaze Pizza in Clifton Park and Albany remains open and ready to welcome customers.

The note from the management team thanked the community for years of support and encouraged guests to continue visiting the other two restaurants.

For many people, it’s not just about pizza. The Mohawk Commons spot became part of their weekly routines, whether it was grabbing a quick bite before shopping or taking the kids for a Friday night dinner.

Blaze Pizza is part of the NYVA Restaurant Group, which operates a variety of well-known eateries across the region. Along with Blaze, they franchise restaurants like Five Guys, Häagen-Dazs, Auntie Anne’s, The Halal Guys, and EONS Greek.
