
One of Nation’s Biggest Banks Closing 60 Branches, Including 14 In New York
Another large bank has announced it will close branches across the Empire State.
Overall, 2024 and the first few months of 2025 have not been kind to national chains.
Numerous retail outlets have closed up shop as part of bankruptcy proceedings or financial restructurings.

Large banking institutions have not been immune to the current economic climate.TD Bank recently announced it will close numerous locations across New York and the Northeast, joining a long list of baking institutions that have closed branches over the last few years.

While closings at these locations are certainly a concern, The Street says these bank closings are not just the result of less lending because of higher interest rates. With the advent of online banking and ATM capabilities, customers simply bank differently than they did in the past. There simply is not a need anymore for so many brick-and-mortar branches.
Flagtstar Bank To Close 14 New York Branches
The Street says Flagstar Financial, one of the nation's 30 biggest banks, earlier this year revealed a plan to close 60 locations nationwide to reduce overall costs.
The Street says closings are happening in 3 phases and its report says 28 locations have closed or will wrap up operations in the near future. The closings include these 14 New York branches:

- 41-11 Bell Boulevard - Bayside
- 720 Grand Boulevard - Deer Park
- 247-53 Jamaica Avenue Bellerose

- 97-70 Queens Boulevard - Rego Park
- 134-40 Springfield Boulevard - Springfield Gardens
- 93-22 Jamaica Avenue - Woodhaven
- 4246 Broadway - New York City
- 5770 Hylan Boulevard - Staten Island
- 1214 Castleton Avenue 4 - Staten Island
- 832 Jewett Avenue J - Staten Island
- 31-06 Farrington Street - Whitestone
